Most of people are aware that the International Congress on AIDS in Asia & Pacific (ICAAP 9) is schedule to be held from the 9 to the 13 August in Bali, Indonesia under the theme “Empowering People – Strengthening Networks”. The true is that this event really important for young people who will be our next generation and talked about young people living with HIV. That is one of several reasons which make our friends in Youth Community make a Youth Forum Exhibition on ICAAP to share the spirit and support for youth who living with HIV and make youth become unity to do our commitment.
Three days on ICAAP, youth people wouldn’t just sit and listen because their times for them to speak up and talk less do more. They held painting in T-shirt, all people invited to share their words for spirit and the other day they walk together in Westin used their unique T-shirt. This activity followed by almost all the participant on Westin because the 9th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific will bring people from various backgrounds in Asia and the Pacific regions to meet and share knowledge, skills, ideas, research findings related to HIV and AIDS.
Historically, young people from Asia have had limited participation at this biannual event. However, over the past two years youth activists from Asia and the Pacific concerned with the number of young people living with HIV and AIDS (2007 estimated 1.3 million young people were living with the disease in Asia and the Pacific), began to intensify their efforts to develop a collective mechanism to ensure that young people SRRH needs and issues are being addressed at high level meetings, such as the ICAAP and the upcoming Asia and Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights.
This forum supported by Indonesian Red Cross Bali Chapter and their volunteer youth to brings all spirit and make this exhibition success. Finally, Red Cross and Youth are something that we can not separated that make we should keep moving forward, become better day by day until ICAAP 10 on 2011 in Busan, Korea. p
